Look Forward to Delivering Your Speech…

Table of contents

Look forward to delivering your speech. Not an easy thing to say to somebody if it is there first time preparing to deliver a speech to family and friends. They may never have heard you speaking in pubic before, they don\’t know what to expect from you, what you are going to say, how you are going to say it and how you will make them feel after you have said it. But, know one thing, they want you to do well for themselves and for you. Some audience members are more worried for the you the speaker than the speaker itself is sometimes.\"\" You have been asked, have offered or it is your duty to speak at this wedding. As the date gets closer, you start preparing for it, putting notes on paper and trying to structure some form of a speech. When you have it done either on your own, with the help of a friend or invested in professional help, you begin to rehearse and practice it. After all this time and effort in doing this, it is imperative that you look forward to delivering your speech. if you don\’t, it might effect your performance. This could be a once off speech, most speeches are. Your audience will never here it again, unless of course it has been recorded in some form. Even if it is recorded, you will not be able to change its first performance in any way. You will, if you have to deliver the speech again. With this mindset of this speech being a once-off and not ever being heard \’live\’ again, makes it more important that you look forward to delivering it. Think about the audience. Most of them at a wedding are probably aware that you will be speaking. The speeches are an important part of the wedding. Whether they are delivered before or after the meal, the audience are looking forward to the speeches, just like you should be. It is better that they are delivered after the meal, as then they are in a better place and \’more ready\’ to listen and enjoy your speech i.e. they are no longer hungry. An audience can be some times nervous for you the speaker. Take this nervousness from them and indeed yourself by showing an aura of a positive person, smiling, walking / sitting up straight, head held up high, conversing with people. With all the work put in to writing your speech and then practicing it, you can\’t but look forward to it. You will have it there in front of you, whether it be in full or in bullet point format, on A4 or pointer card format, you simply cannot go wrong. Focusing on your breathing, smiling and saying your first opening one, two and three sentences slowly, and deliberately, saying every letter in every word will get you off to the right start and help you look forward to your speech and be fantastic. Finally, be yourself, speak from the heart and enjoy every minute of it…
